Kenya Missions Update5 December, 2003FAITH It is exciting and faith building for us when people put their faith in the Lord and the Lord by His faithful nature is also faithful in answering them. I wanted to share with you more about Rose, whom you a few days ago read about in our last newsletter. May her faith also encourage you as it does us! On Wednesday when I came home, I found Rose and Grace talking. That night I heard this story. There was a ladies meeting that took place starting last Thursday through Sunday. The transporters (matatus) went on strike on Thursday. So, the ladies were not able to go until 9 PM that night when the strike was called off. But they increased the prices to make up for the fares lost during the day. Rose had just enough money to get to the meeting and back. With the increased fare, she knew that she would be stranded in Bungoma. But she decided to trust in the Lord and not tell anyone about her problem. On Sunday, the meeting was closing and other ladies were boarding the matatus to go from the bush to Bungoma and then to catch another matatu home. Rose lagged behind, then a lady came to her and said, " I want to sing you a song before I go". They sang together and before they could finish, both were in tears. The lady shook her hand and put something in her hand and then left on a matatu. When Rose was able to look, she saw that the lady had put Ksh. 200 in her hand, her transport home! Praise the Lord! But the story does not end there, for the Lord was not done yet. Rose got a matatu and got to Bungoma and found all the other ladies from Eldoret waiting there. She went to the matatu park and found a matatu for them. It came and as the conductor was collecting the fares he came to Rose last and pointed a finger at her and said, " You don’t pay". Which is a miracle in Kenya! Rose said that now she has the faith that the Lord will be able to provide for her son to continue in his schooling starting in January. He had to drop out this year due to a lack of money to pay the fees. Pray for Rose to continue to put her faith in the Lord to provide. I leave you with Proverbs 3: 3-6 "Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We serve a Faithful Lord, Keith Gafner |
