Kenya Missions UpdateAugust 26, 2006Greetings in the Precious name of our Lord, Jesus the Christ! Thanks so much for all of your prayers. God has been faithful in answering them. Ans. We have had heavy rains most of the month. All except maybe 3 days. They have been heavy, but it is obvious that the ground is saturated and this should be enough to give people a harvest of maize. Pray that they would still continue to come for the next 2 months like they are suppose to according to normal rain patterns. Ans. The annual leaders/elders/preacher meeting that took place 11th – 13th August was a huge success. We had 49 people in attendance. A workshop format was used this year instead of just preaching. Everyone was very happy about what we discussed and the outcome of the discussions. Praise the Lord! The 10th of August also held a surprise for us. Before I tell you that surprise, I want to inform you a bit about a ministry that has come my way. It seems that the Lord gave me two girls to raise as my own. But He has brought young men for me to also assist. Six years ago, Sammy Kibet came to me; his brother was working as our night watchman at the time. He came to know and accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. When we purchased the Saroiyot plot to make it into an agricultural demonstration farm, I chose him and his new wife to come and assist. In the last six years, he and I have worked together not only on this project, but also in developing young men. There is Majimbo, who is working for us who came to know the Lord and is very active in the youth group at his church. There is Leonard who you previously read about in a newsletter. There is now a young man who is an orphan (Victor) there for this month as well. He is working to help provide some of the school fees that he needs. Unfortunately, the money that he owes the school is about 5 months work, so pray for him about what he and the family will do to make up the difference. Juma, was first found 3 years ago in the Rescue Center. He was a former street boy. When we built a bread oven there, Juma and Malango became real interested. Sammy brought them for a period of time to Saroiyot to teach them about making bread and other things in the oven. Well, they both eventually ran away from the center. Malango went back and Juma went back to the streets in Kitale. On Wednesday the 9th, he came back to Eldoret. On the morning of the 10th he came to Sammy’s. He gave Sammy his drugs and said that he did not want to go back to the street. He is still with us at Saroiyot. Pray for him, as his head clears from the drugs and glue. He is a hard working young man and quite intelligent from what we can tell. He was orphaned at a young age. Leonard, as I wrote about is hoping to marry soon. What his future holds for him and his wife is yet to be seen. One thought is that the Church of Christ Children’s Home in Kitale has 5 acres that they want to develop for a cow (milk) and vegetables for food. They presently have 38 orphans and 8 or 9 on their staff. Pray with us about this, because they do not have the money to support them going there ($75 per month). Kirsten and Ruth Korner We will have three of these children back over on Monday night the 28th as their parents move from their house to an apartment. Prayers I will be going on a safari to visit my father in Michigan from 19th Sept. until the 4th Oct. Please pray for me in my travels and also for Grace as she does double duty in the home with me gone. Pray for their safety in all things. And we are presently raising 50 broiler chicks, she will get the job of slaughtering them. Pretty good planning on my part, wouldn’t you say? May the Lord Bless You and may His Face Shine Upon You and Grant You His Peace! Because of Christ, |
