Kenya Missions Update

November 30, 2006

May the peace and grace of our Lord be with each of you!

I thought that I would take a few minutes and update you on the activities that you have been praying about. Please continue praying over some of the items in the last prayer letter.

The meeting that I hosted went very well. People were excited and more came than expected. So, several of them had to sleep on the floor. The meetings went late into the nights. Everyone left excited and unified. We had a wonderful Sunday worship service together and afterwards we had continual discussions on various topics that hit the heart of the brethren.

Then 7 of us the next day went to a four day meeting that you read about. The teachings were great. The main topics were from a Japanese brother who taught 5 hours on expository preaching and we had a husband and wife from Ghana who spoke to us for 6 hours on Premarital Counseling. They have also written a very nice book on the subject and worksheets for us to give to those we are counseling. We all agreed to go home and do the book with our wives and then will meet together in February to discuss what to do next. We do very little in this area when people want to marry in our fellowship. I think that may change in the future! Pray for wisdom for the way forward!

Then of course, we were blessed with 59 books at the end of the course and a CD with many more books on it. Excellent books, easily worth $1000. The authors of the books allowed for them to be reprinted and used in this Pastor’s Book Project that was hosted by SIM. They said that they will spend 2.5 million dollars in Kenya hosting the seminars and giving books to workers in the Kingdom. Praise the Lord for the money donated. This is the 34th country that they have done the project in.

Famine Relief – we were able to complete the distribution of about 500 bags of maize to the Baringo and Koibatek areas. This will not complete their needs, but it will let them eat for 2 + months. Praise the Lord!

Please continue to pray for the National Leadership Meeting that will take place in Nairobi from 8th until 12th of December. Pray for safety in transport and health as we attend. Grace and the girls will visit with friends and relatives during this time.

Pray for a friend of ours, Wilson Ochieng who is a welder here in town. Last week he attended the funeral of his younger brother. The brother left behind no real source of income for the family. So Wilson brought the four children to live with him. He is trusting the Lord to pay for their school fees, because two of them are in High School, which is not free in Kenya. Can you imagine the stress of adding 4 children to your budget and family!

Thanks for all of your prayers on our behalf and also on behalf of others that we write about in our pray letters.

In Service to Christ,

Keith, Grace, Kirsten and Ruth

Kirsten and Ruth
The girls are out of school until the 8th of January. Kirsten is reading books on her own. It is quite exciting hearing how many chapters she gets done in on reading session. Ruth is learning to read books. Mainly she likes helping her mommy in the kitchen and daddy in the garden. She also likes listening to kids songs on tape.
