Kenya Missions UpdateMarch 9, 2007Greetings from Kenya! This is just a short note to tell you how the Lord has blessed us the last few days. Praise Him with us for his wonderfulness! 28th February, I went to Kitale to see Leonard and Mildred and the work they have started at the Kitale Church of Christ Children’s home. Leonard has worked really hard in preparation of vegetable beds and has the land plowed and ready to plant maize. We had an appointment with the Kenya Seed Company in the afternoon. We prayed that before we go, that we would find favor there and not only would they help us with seed and fertilizer, but that they would even give us more blessings. When we got there, they did! They have assigned a man and his crew to come and do all the land preparation (that is not yet done) and will plant the seeds and everything for us. This frees Leonard to work on the animal projects, tree planting and other projects that we have hoped to do. Praise the Lord! Sunday the 4th, we went to the Kilimani Church of Christ and baptized 10 people into the Kingdom! One old man was baptized and as the group walked from the dam to the church the PAG church all came outside and asked what was going on. They could not believe that this man a neighbor of theirs was baptized. Praise the Lord that sound Biblical teachings touched his heart! Sammy Kibet and Charles Luvanda are the men working at this church. Say a prayer of thanksgiving for both of these men. Monday the 5th, 11 men (elders and preachers) and I gathered at Navillus for a time of prayer and fasting of church leaders. There is a forest of 8 acres of trees there that provided a perfect place for us to pray for each other and the Churches of Christ. At night we meet around the campfire and talked about many and various things. Then 2 slept outside while 10 of us slept in a house. The floor was covered with mattresses and people in this small house. The other real bad part was the noisy rat eating maize at night from the bags of maize stored in the house. On the 7th, I awoke at 4:15 AM and went and revived the campfire. As scheduled the rest woke up at 5 AM. We worshipped and prayed until the sun came up at 6:30 AM. Then we broke our fast and ate porridge. Then back to the forest for more prayers until lunch. What a wonderful way to begin celebration of my birthday. Then back home and picking up the girls from school, I found lots of hugs and birthday cards made by the girls classmates for me. On the 8th, I checked emails and found out wonderful news that since they found my dad’s prostate cancer at an early stage, and that it has not spread to his bones, that they will be able to treat it with injections every six months. Praise the Lord! Today the 9th, the girls will sleep at a friends and I will have a date with a beautiful woman named Grace. On the 10th, I and two other men will take our daughters to the Agricultural Society of Kenya show. A father daughter bonding time. Pray and Praise the Lord Continually! I and 4 elders will be ministering in Baringo on the 16th to 18th and others will have a crusade at Epke that weekend, please remember these in your prayers. In Service to Christ, |
