Kenya Missions UpdateNovember 1, 2007Greetings in the name of Jesus! I thought I would send you a short addition to the newsletter sent out a couple of days ago. We had a wonderful experience on Sunday. In the Tungururwet Cluster of Churches, there are six individual churches. They are called; Cheplaskei two,
Mosop, Tungururwet, Twiga, Kap Davidson, and Itet. This is a wonderful cluster that works well together. Before church, we were invited to visit John and Patricia. She attended a vegetable growing seminar last year at Saroiyot. They are doing wonderfully in growing cabbage. The only problem is that their well has gone dry during this dry season. But they have 5,000 cabbages down by the stream that they are watering. Each they hope to sell for about $0.30.
With this money, they hope to start a poultry project. Patricia will be attending our Poultry Seminar on the 30th Nov. – 1st. Dec. at Saroiyot. Several of their neighbors have also started vegetable gardens, modeling what they have done. Praise the Lord. She said since she has attended my seminar, they have never bought vegetables! The other wonderful thing there was actually John’s grandmother. She stays with them. She gets around well, is full of life and loves the
Lord. She was born in 1895. YES, that makes her 112 years old. She went to church with us and when it was time to go home, I asked if I should give her a lift home, as it is nearly 4 miles. They said no, she would get in the lorry with the rest of the people, as it was going that way. Pray for Jane Bwire who some of you know. She has a heart condition and for the last two weeks she has been home in the bed.
They have given her some tablets to reduce the water in her body. Saturday night before you go to bed, pray as well for me and two elders who will go with me to the Cheptigit cluster. In this cluster are remaining two churches. The other church left them and joined another cluster earlier this year. I was told to come with ‘moto’ (fire). The leadership in the churches are very weak. In one church the main leader has stopped coming all
together. Thanks for your prayers for us as a family as well! In Service to Christ, Keith, Grace, Kirsten and Ruth Gafner
