19 March 2008 Calvary Greetings! The
below was sent to me, and it should be true if we really understand the meaning
of Easter and the implications of what it means to be a ‘Christian’.
SHOULD
WE LIVE IN SUCH A WAY THAT… WHEN OUR
FEET HIT THE FLOOR IN THE MORNING... SATAN
SHUDDERS, "OH NO...THEY ARE AWAKE" !!! Continue to pray
over our situation here in Kenya. A brother told me the other day that,
now things are back to normal. Yes, if you are in Eldoret town, things
look normal. But on the edges of town are over 20,000 IDP’s (Internally
Displaced People). A life of living in tents and all the problems that
are associated with this many people living in close quarters is anything but
normal. The signs of the long rains coming are there, and people want to
go back to their farms. But they have no homes as they were burnt to the
ground or anything else needed to even plant. The government has raised
some money to help, but will this money get here in time to help with this
planting season. Seems what they are doing now is building police posts
in affected areas, so that there will be safety when the people travel
home. I could go on and on and tell you a lot more, but pray as we join
hands with others to do all we can to facilitate the movement of people back
home as well as helping to meet their physical needs while in the camps.
It is time for the Church now to stand up and be leaders in reconciliation and
in giving! The economy as been
devastated as well. In December we had 12% inflation, in January it went
up to 18%. Have not heard for March. This is mainly caused by lack
of food and the cost increase of fuel for vehicles. We here in Eldoret at
our house have not had any rain since August 2007. The price of milk has
doubled! We have been asked to send
our proposed schedule around for furlough. If you have any questions and
dates that fit you best in the schedule, please let us know and we will see
what we can do. Arrival at Detroit 10th
